Swiffer Pad Refills

I cut some leftover fleece into swiffer sized pads. I just toss them into the washer when I am done..........I have several, so I can do the whole house at one time.

Decluttering My Desk

Well, everyone kept piling anything they didn't know what to do with (or didn't want to deal with on my desk). It was getting to the point, I had to move things to see the monitor.

Also, if I am sitting there, my kids love to write/draw and they'll bring me their finished products. Sometimes, I can convince them to go hang them on the freezer, but not always.

Well, I couldn't take it anymore, so I worked for 2 hours decluttering just the desk top & 4 shelves (the cabinet & 2 of the shelves were already done:)

I tossed a 13 gal bag worth of papers that didn't need to be shredded (school announcements, school papers, etc) and shredded one can's worth. I still have to re-tackle 2 of my 3 drawers again (the file drawer has stayed neat, b/c I can't shove stuff in there, lol). I also have to declutter the bottom cabinet (ugggh).

I will be working on this for this week, until it dries up some outside (raining since Saturday)so I can try to tackle some of the shed:)

It's 59 right now and partly cloudy, but hopefully it will stay dry today. I also want to get the old van cleaned out & sell it; get my van cleaned out, so it can be fixed and get the truck cleaned out. But first things first.....

Getting There........

Lately, as I've been getting things done and doing these little decluttering projects, the house has been getting way easier to manage (and just in time) :)

The kids are actually doing their share, too. They are straightening their rooms & making their beds before school, they are doing their routines without (too much) fuss, they are even doing their chores and making their chore jars get fat.

They actually look forward to getting their daily chore lists now. They also don't fuss too much when they pull a job they don't like, b/c #1 it's usually not that bad (since everythign is being kept up with), so it only takes a few minutes, and #2, they know it's only for a day.

DH has even been helping out more without even being asked:) Last night, he washed dishes, twice, and gave the kids their baths.

Everyone has been a great help the past few days, and our home is showing it (not just in cleanliness, but attitudes/spirits, too).

Reusable Swiffer Cloths

For the cleaning pads, I cut some fleece up into the size of the mopping surface. When you get done, you can just take them off and toss in the washer. Saves money and uses up some of those scraps:)

For cleaner, instead of buying the refills, you can spray your fleece pad or the floor with either white vinegar or lemon juice.

Homekeeping lists

Ok, I know a couple of my friends have been having trouble knowing what needs to be done in their homes (cleaning/decluttering wise). I have had this trouble in the past as well. I have come up with lists with what to do (in my home) & how often, so I thought I'd share.

Now keep in mind, my lists are just a guide line, they are not to be used as your own, because, my lists will not fit your home, lifestyle, time, etc. For example, I have a very small home and a big family. So, you won't find a living room, dining room, family room, etc on my list, because I don't have those rooms.

Now, how I came up with my list, was for my routine, I listed everything I thought I needed to do daily.

For my chores, I went and sat down in each room (or area--van, outside, etc), one by one, looked around and listed EVERY chore that would need to be done at some point over a year's time. I went around the room/area in a circle listing the chores. Then I decided how often I thought they would need to be done (daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, less than monthly or annually). I also put besides some of the chores the ones I thought my children could do (I don't want them to not know where to begin when they get out on their own).

Now, my lists are long and detailed, but that's how I need them to be. Also, I am a sahm, so I am able to spend more time than those of you who work outside the home. Now, I am no where near saying my house is spotless:) Kids have a way of undoing the best of intentions, lol.

I am going to post each of my lists separately (except my daily routine & daily chores, those I'll post together).

I hope this helps someone that may have trouble knowing where to begin:)
